awkward:
- walking up the wrong side of the steps so you won't flash the guys beneath you when wearing a skirt to class
- leaving your window down in the car wash and then getting caught by the towel dryer,"you get wet hun?", "why yes i did!"
- getting hit on by not one but two elderly men out for a drive to the gas station
- telling someone you don't know them... sorry but no :)
- just now finding out about pandora... seems legit, downloading the app for that right now!
- the awkward hug or handshake moment
- calling long lists of people to remind them of their appointments... leaving messages is not my strong suit
- photos of my singing face lol

awesome:
- the first gig of the season!! i was blessed and i'm sure others were too!
- almost being done with my first blanket!
- that logo game for the iphone haha
- 10 o'clock cleaning spree after working 7 hours and being awake since 8 am
- finding cute clothes!
- this amazing new cracker recipe i just now found out about!! will post soon if i ever make them!
- figuring out more and more braids!! in another life i probably would have wanted to be hair dresser lol

wordy wednesday: entry #10

IT TAKES DISCIPLINE

one of the many things i struggle with is scheduling my life.  i know i pull a lot of these wordy wednesday posts from my devotional but they do a pretty good job of convicting me.  last summer, i had set a goal of coming up with enough songs to put a demo together.  but i struggled with over-committing myself.  this person wants me to be here on this date, i work this day but i get off at this time and i could probably squeeze in a couple hours here for them.  i was doing this for everyone who wanted me to do something for them because i am a people pleaser and pretty soon i was mad that i didn't have any time to do what i thought i needed to be doing with my time.  but see i'm the one that makes the schedule.  my demo didn't happen because of me.  i can't say "yes" to everyone.  i have to be able to pick and choose what God wants me to do at that time.

so last night's devotional, Joyce Meyer stated, "God showed me that i had to discipline myself in order to simplify my life."  and i was like, um hello? yea, i can relate!!  but how do you discipline yourself??  and then the next paragraph told me to listen to the Holy Spirit and He will guide you to make commitments and to reject some so that you can have a peaceful life.  God didn't want us to live for Him in a stressful, no break life, where you can't hardly breath and barely have time to think.  but if you discipline yourself to make some tough calls, you can live the life God wants you to live.

" we do not enjoy being disciplined.  it is painful at the time, but later, after we have learned from it, we have peace, because we start living the right way."

this is going to be hard but i'm going to try it out this time around!

- that moment when everyone in the class wants to slap the guy who asks all the questions because he just wasted 30 minutes on one problem
- when you get your car wash and the guys drying your car open the door and find your mcdonald's "how to train your dragon" toy, then make fun of you in a different language
- trying to consume a large pizza by yourself
- when you are walking up steps and you are not far enough away from and not close enough to the person in front of you or behind you, so you can have eye contact the entire way up three flights of stairs
- this length of my hair right now... not long and not short

awesome:
- the avengers movie... FOR THE THIRD TIME
- raising cane's
- sticking to a diet... for 12 hours so far!
- sunshine!!
- putting my name down for yet another standee advertisement
- getting a hat for my work uniform... i feel so official lol
- feeling vibrant & loving color in my outfits!!

ARE THINGS WELL?

have you ever had one of those days where everything is going right?  class gets canceled, you get ahead on chores, the sun is warm but not hot, your shoes don't hurt your feet, and you find the perfect piece of clothing on the clearance rack for $4?

don't forget to praise God for those days.  He likes to hear your praise on a daily basis not just your concerns.  He loves to hear that you are pleased when He has made an effort to brighten your day!

happy mother's day!

a special post for a special mother who needs to have some bragging done on her!

my mom is more than a mother.

she is my best friend.
she is HILARIOUS.
she is a roe model.
she cleans cuts, and kisses bruises.
she is an encourager: "Did you hear me mom?" "Yeap, keep practicing."  lol ;)
she really is the cool mom.
she and i hold the most inside jokes.
she is a visionary.
she is a positive spirit.
she is the enforcer of the house, sorry dad you know it's true ;).
she understands... most of the time.
she introduced me to hairspray... which is VERY important!
she is usually behind the camera, but i love it when i get her on film.
she is the kind of person that will trade you shoes if yours are hurting you really bad!
she will make every day brighter.
she loves to giving to others.
she loves to be a hostess.
she is my right wing dress shopper. 
she is the mower of the lawn.
she is a shop till you dropper.
she is my cleaning fairy.
she is who my lunch is scheduled with every wednesday.
she is the spell checking wizard and will always be the person i turn to to proof my papers before i submit them.

awkward:
- waking in a hurry and then you run up on a slow poke, then that awkward moment when they look behind themselves as if you are following them... your eyes meet and your eyes say: no you are just slow
- being crammed under a desk trying to fix computer hardware in a dress, then asking myself can it possibly get worse...  needless to say i was hidden and crammed under that desk by office staff after a patient came to check out... my line of sight was either inappropriate or claustrophobic... awkward
- trying to have a simple photo shoot while people stare at you like you are a celebrity haha!!
- picking the only seat in the classroom that has a desk tall enough that it should require a bar stool, but then not changing your seat because you sat there the first day of class and now you are glued to that seat
- looking at a customer and saying,"see yah later!" when they haven't placed an order yet
- suggestive selling, the new cookies at Chick-fil-a are amazing btw!!!
- your teacher being really nervous and knocking his water bottle over sending it crashing to the floor and then the apologies that follow for the next 5 minutes... poor guy
- feeling like a sign is tied around my neck that screams,"harass me now please!"... do guys really get girls by yelling at them from a moving car??

awesome:
- two A's and two B's for last semester!! hoohah!
- my friends jessica and katie graduating!! i'm jealous, but congrats girlies!!!
- the avengers movie!! i'm still in awe of the sheer genius of this movie! go see it right now!
- actually having free time!!! house cleaning, project making, and ab cutting here i come!!
- new songs, practicing with the Josh Martin Band, and figuring out garage band!!! if anyone knows a christian recording studio that is looking for artists, i could really see myself doing this for the rest of my life!!
- music video ideas... they need an outlet... i'm casting now lol

wordy wednesday: entry #8

WE ARE NOT PERFECT

when i get on facebook and see posts bashing christians and christians swinging back at non-believers, it really disappoints me. here recently, some of my non-believing friends have been making posts about how hypocritical christians are. more specifically how the controversial death of Thomas Kinkade, the "painter of light", proves that he was a hypocrite and that this further proves their thinking that christians are hypocrites. but this only proves that christians are people too, and that we have problems just like everyone else. i am so sick of people thinking that we, christ followers, are never suppose to have problems. when i gave my life to Christ, i was never promised a tribulation free life & i was never promised a get out of jail free card. but i was promised a struggle with myself, my sin filled life, & with the world! going against the grain is not for the faint of heart! i struggle with temptation & sin just as much as Kinkade did, and guess what! we aren't perfect! i make mistakes every single day, but the last thing i was promised from God was a unfailing & unconditional love that allows Him to forgive me for what i have done.

i could use prayer. every single one of those posts that i see makes me want to spit out long ranting posts. satan knows where my weakness lies, and he stabs me there daily. if you struggle with this discouraging world too, you and i need to remember this:  

"Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear, and do not be frightened." But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander."

geek & chic

well i know i'm at least one of them!



- super heroes are real -
super heroes are my favorites. the first super hero crush i ever had was on batman. and then chris evans had to go and star in captain america!!! anyways, i love pairing these shirts with my coral jeans!! and what can i say, the pens were at target for 4 bucks and the moving was epic, so i definitely spent the only 4 bucks i had left to my name! ;)


- spock & science fiction-
do you get it? if you do, me and you just became best friends. star trek was one of my dad's favorite and so we have all the episodes on dvd and all the movies on vhs. naturally i followed in his footsteps. i ended up getting this shirt from Hot Topic {the best place for geek & pop culture paraphernalia}! i also enjoy sci-fi classics: alien, predator, star wars, lost in space, weird science, etc.


- obsessive tendencies -
go big or go home. if there is a movie out that i have been dying to see, i have been known to put my name down for the in theater standee advertisements {i've only scored one & it was abduction's, but now my family has a larger than life taylor lautner & the only way you can beat that is with a larger than life leonard nimoy ;) }. i buy dvds just to complete my collection of the epic saga: twilight, harry potter, underworld, resident evil, the complete series of friends, etc. i have no shame in playing dress up, have you seen my avatar costume? it's for sure gonna be appearing at the 2013 midnight showing of Avatar 2. i'm sure there are more examples but must i go on?


- the prop glasses -
i have 20/20 vision and yet i long to wear glasses! i have like 5 pair of prop glasses that have accumulated through the years. i sincerely believe they make you smarter & i don't want to be left out, haha! these glasses make numerous appearances in photo shoots because i'm too self-conscious to wear them in public.
